Hard Target Solutions was founded in 2018, but its roots trace back to 1996 when John began his journey in service by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. During this time, he developed the foundational values of leadership and integrity that continue to guide Hard Target today.

After just one year of service, John was selected to attend and graduate from the prestigious U.S. Marine Corps Scout Sniper School in Quantico, Virginia. He went on to serve in a special operations anti-terrorism unit, providing protection for U.S. Presidents, the Pope, and other high-level government officials.

Following his service in the Marine Corps, John embarked on an 18-year career in law enforcement across two states and multiple agencies. During this time, he served in SWAT. He was deeply involved in training development, completing hundreds of operations in coordination with Federal, State, and Local authorities, including the U.S. Secret Service and the FBI Hostage Rescue Team (HRT).

As an innovator in public safety, John traveled the country developing and teaching “Active Threat” tactics, policies, and procedures for law enforcement agencies and private businesses. His experience led him to create Foundational Training Methods that have been adopted by military, law enforcement, and government special response teams.

John later accepted an assignment with the U.S. Government, working alongside Tier 1 anti-terrorism units across the globe in support of the worldwide war on terror. He collaborated with foreign special operations units to protect world leaders, secure critical infrastructure, and safeguard U.S. Embassies abroad.

Today, John is an active Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the U.S. Department of State, traveling globally to instruct and operate in the very skills he teaches.
